European Commission Launches Broad On-line Consultation on Cybersquatting

Cybersquatters are individuals with no connection to a domain name and no legitimate interest, who register names in bad faith in the hope that they will be able to sell them at a profitable price to individuals, businesses or organisations which do have a connection to the names.

The aim of the survey conducted by the Commission is: (1) to collect views from interested parties; and (2) to develop rules to address speculative and abusive registration of domain names in the future ".eu" domain. The questionnaire is available at the URL above.
